Castellammare del Golfo Italy

Castellammare del Golfo is a coastal town and municipality in the province of Trapani, Sicily. Its name means “Sea Fortress on the Gulf,” a reference to the medieval fortress overlooking the harbor. The adjacent body of water, the Gulf of Castellammare, takes its name from the town. From the marina and harbor area, known as Cala Marina and lined with restaurants and bars, the town rises in a network of stairways and winding streets that lead either to Piazza Petrolo or up toward the central public gardens and main town center, where there are numerous shops, cafés, and restaurants. The main thoroughfare is Corso Garibaldi. Castellammare del Golfo is often described as having one of the most beautiful peninsulas in all of Sicily.
